New Materials To Work With

I have a love of Funko Pop Figures. I have quite a collection and am adding to it all the time. They have so many options of genres of Pop Figures. They have done a few Literary inspired ones like Edgar Allen Poe. No Jane Austen yet. So I decided That I really wanted a Jane Austen one. SO the only way to get that was to make my own. So I looked up tutorials on other people who made their own Jane Austen Pop figures and which ones they use to create them.

This is the example that I found. I found and bought the exact one she used. I didn't like it so much because one of the ones she used was now up to like $100. Didn't want to spend that, so the movie Pride and Prejudice and zombies came out and they had Pop figures made out of them. So I got one with the look I was going for to help with the head. That is the problem I was running into.

So these are the 2 I bought. Aurora for the body, and Jane Bennet  from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. So Besides the painting the biggest part was assembling the parts together into one figure then get the paints gathered to give it all a final look.

So you have to use a hair dryer to loosen the glue on the heads. Also something I have learned is that the flesh colors are not all the same and now some of the newer ones have different size head openings depending on their design. So you really have to look into all these things before you can really do it. So I hair dryer off the heads.

So with that done I epoxied the correct head to the correct body. Let it dry over night and it was ready to paint. I thought I had some in process pictures, but I have bought a new computer and 3 new phones between then and now. So I have no idea where they ended up. Hopefully I will find them one day and add tho the post.

So this is my finished Jane Austen Funko. I love how she turned out. I don't know if I will customize one again, but I like having my very own Jane Austen Pop Figure. So thank you for stopping by and checking out my blog. I hope you have an amazing day!!

Coming Home

I have been out of the blogging world for quite sometime. My life has changed in so many ways that are too numerous to name. I don't regret any of it, because it got me to the amazing new place in my life. As life often does throw us curve balls and sometimes pitches us the perfect ball we hit right out of the park. (I know a sports metaphor, I can't believe that I used it either.)

So during the rest of all this Covid-19 lock down/self quarantine, whichever you find yourself in. I am going to be revamping my blogs going with getting a new business off the ground. So if my post and the blog start to really become a bit different then don't worry. Put on your hard hat and come along for the ride.

So Sunday here in the US is Mother's Day. I have gone from being a daughter, to a wife, a mother, and now a grandmother. It amazes me how quick life can change and our titles as women change with it. Being a mother is the hardest and most rewarding job I have ever had.

I only have one chick left in my nest. Over the years we found out the she is a high functioning Autistic. The actual diagnosis is ASD Type 2. As a Mom you always want to take away any of your child's pain and struggles. This one I can't do anything other than be there for her and learn what to do to help her.

So I wanted to do a free Image from Dover. Sign up with them and you get a free image every month, sometimes more than one. I know I have mentioned it before but it wonderful source of free images for Mixed Media Art work. You never know what you will get sent. So that is something I think I want to start is a Dover Image challenge. That is only some of the things I want to get started on this blog.

So Happy Mother's Day out there to everyone! This silhouette I just thought was so beautiful. It reminded me of those wonderful simple moments the we have with our kids. Now I am not the kind of Mother who is a sappy person (ok I am all mush on the inside, but seriously don't tell my kids that) who is always thinking motherhood is this amazing miracle and just flowers and birds singing. I am a down to earth realist. Things happen teen years are so tough, I have called my Mom so many times and said I am so so sorry I had no idea how much of a brat I was. Till your kids act like you, you just don't get what we put our own Moms thru.

This is what I am like as a person in my day to day life. You make do with what you have, or find away to get what you need. Never ever stop fighting for your kids and yourself. That faith and hope are real things I use to get thru most days. Which I think I can safely say we all are there right now in this day and age we live in. We have no idea what normal is going to be. Don't worry we aren't alone in this. The whole world is going thru this too. So chin up Ladies, give yourself a break and pat yourself on the back. You have made it this far you can make it the rest of the way.

Now not all my posts Will be this lengthy, ok they maybe sometimes, but mostly they won't. I just wanted to kind of introduce myself back into the blogisphere again. So welcome and enjoy looking around. I will be keeping all of my old posts up and just keep adding more.

Dresses!

I know it has been a long time, since I posted anything on my blog. I have been trying to get Miss Lily all healthy. She was in the hospital, and had to have 2 blood transfusions. I blogged about it on my New Blog "The Rusty Tiara Home". I imported my "Livin With Hoosiers" blog posts and comments over to the New blog. I hope you will stop by and check it out. I also started a Facebook Page for "The Rusty Tiara". I need to get 25 "likes", before Facebook will let me keep the name on Facebook. So if you could pop on over and "Like" it for me, that would be great.! I am hoping to open my ETSY store soon also. I am really hitting the ground running, I am going to really devote my time to getting my blogs going and opening my ETSY, and get it going.

Well I have been busy creating things all over my house. The house I moved into when I first moved back to Indiana, had mold and was making everyone really sick. So I have moved into a house that has twice the space and for the same price. Well with all this room, and wall space I have been trying to make the space mine.

This is one of the first projects, I used the Dress template from Stampington. I used canvas board and acrylic paints for the background of the pieces. I used pearl paint and dry brushed over the background color. Dry brushing is where you dip a dry brush into paint then wipe it off and brush it over the surface. It really gives a great effect.

So I found frames at my local Goodwill and sprayed them with flat black paint. I took the glass out and inserted the canvas board, then hung them over my closet in my bedroom. I totally love them. I love going into my closet and seeing them over the door.
They make me smile! :)
Thank You for stopping by! Please come back soon to see what I have been up to!
Have an amazing Day!

For The Love of Shoes!

I did a post about this project on my other blog. I wanted to post a bit about it on Rusty too. I found these Awesome templates at Michael's for $.99, for a package of 10. Well I didn't want to use them so I traced it out on a cereal box. They had a bunch of different shapes there for very inexpensive. I also found this fun site. Now it is to make little books for little kids to make their own stories to practice writing. I love that you can make them whatever size you want. They would make wonderful Templates. So that is exactly what I want to do with them! Here is the Link.
This is the shoe cut out of the cereal box!
I had this scrapbook paper for a while. When I was looking for paper to use for the Shoe it really hit me that this is the perfect one. It is very Lilly Pulitzer-esk I think! So I used glitter glue for the swirls and flowers. Then I used Fairy glitter for the high heel.

Then I used foam mounting tape to put it in the frame and hang it on my wall. I thought it turned out really nice. I really like working with templates. I am in the middle of working with a shoe template that i was inspired by The Wizard of Oz, is all I am going to say. I am almost done with it. So hopefully I will post it very soon.

Chocolate Postie!

It has been awhile since my last post. Matt's job got eliminated and 140 other salaried people lost there jobs. So I moved back up to Indiana, 3 days before Christmas. It was a crazy time. I love my new house. I talk all about it on my blog Livin' With Hoosiers! I changed the name. Well I am not Livin' With Peaches anymore.

This is my Image I used. I love this Image of this little girl shoving Chocolates in her mouth! I am telling you I am right there with her! Well I had tons of Valentine Rub ons I got on Clearance from Michael's Last year. I purchased them for like 60 cents! It was a great deal. So I put the phrase "Chocolate, Just one more". I felt it was only fitting!

Thank You for stopping by! I am getting unpacked and settled and Ready to Create! So stop back by soon and see what trouble I get myself into. The plus of my new house, is that I set up a whole studio set up in my huge basement!

Have a Wonderful Day! Come back soon!

More Fun Backgrounds!

Jamie at Art-e-ology has some wonderful Images. I took this really fun egg print. I wanted it to look like someone had just thrown it on a table and put stuff ontop of it. I love looking at the stuff Jamie has. So go check out some of the fun stuff she has. I was thinking that these eggs would look amazing as a background. I also think they would look good printed off and just matted and framed.

Have A Great Day! Thanks for stopping by!
